There’s also a section called the barn. This is one of the things that I found particularly intriguing and which distinguishes Sommers Bend from many other communities. All Sommers Bend residents are welcome to rent the barn. You must book ahead of time, but the possibilities in this area are limitless. It has a large outdoor area with seating, a bar, and a dance floor. The barn can comfortably seat 70 to 100 people. There is also a kitchen where food for the event can be prepared. The cost varies depending on whether or not you want alcohol. It will cost around $50 per hour to cover the entire area without alcohol. If you do want alcohol, they will have to hire security, which will cost an extra $70 per hour for the event. It is almost unheard of in today’s market to be able to rent out a beautiful space for less than $500 for 4-5 hours. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are all popular activities at the nearby Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve.
Sommers Bend has a strong sense of community and camaraderie as well. There are regular neighborhood events and gatherings, such as block parties and community garage sales, that allow residents to meet their neighbors and form long-lasting friendships.
