Starlight Ridge

We continue our series on low-tax neighborhoods in Temecula with Starlight Ridge. This blog post will go over amenities, why we like Starlight Ridge, the tax rate, and the overall vibe and feel of the area and community. One of the reasons we continually produce content about low-tax rate areas in Temecula is that we want potential buyers to have other options than new home builds, which will have substantially high tax bills. If you are a home buyer in Southern California, you have to understand that a new home will basically have double the tax rate of an older community. In Southern California, a 1.2% tax rate is pretty common with older homes. When you get into new home construction, tax rates can climb up to 2–2.5%, which can really diminish your buying power.

About Starlight Ridge

One thing you’ll notice while driving through the Starlight Ridge community is how many homes actually have beautiful views of the Temecula area. The community has gorgeous mature shade trees, winding streets, and a relaxed, quiet feel. The community is great for morning or evening walks. One of the advantages of Starlight Ridge is how close it is to both the 15 and 215 interstates, shopping, groceries, and restaurants. Something every Californian knows is the importance of having essentials close by because of traffic. Look no further than Starlight Ridge, as commutes to grocery stores for everyday items are less than 5 minutes. Albertsons, Vons, Target, 24-Hour Fitness, Chase Bank, Big Lots, and the AMC theater are all within a 5-minute drive of Starlight Ridge. All these factors make Starlight Ridge one of the best low-tax neighborhoods in Temecula.

Schools

Schools for the Starlight Ridge Community include Vail Elementary, which is actually right in the community, James Day Middle School, and Temecula Valley High. You can easily Google any of these schools and see that they ranked in the top 20% of all schools in California with ratings for test scores and the overall environment from 8 to 10.

Ronald Reagan Sports Park

A huge advantage of the Starlight Ridge community is having access to the Ronald Reagan Sports Park. There is an abundance of opportunities that include a BMX ramp, baseball fields, huge open green fields, and a recreation center. The Rec Center has a teen area with ping pong and other games. The swimming pool has a massive Olympic-size pool, water slides, and a hot tub. They hold swimming lessons for much of the year. Public swimming starts in May, and if you are a resident of Temecula, the cost is $1, $5 for out-of-towners. Because Temecula gets so warm in the summer, this is a great opportunity for kids to come and spend the afternoon, get some exercise, and cool down.

Golf

If you are a golfer, you have Temeku Hills Golf Course within a 3-minute drive of Starlight Ridge. One of the great things about the Temecula area is how many golf courses are nearby at a reasonable rate. I always say the Inland Empire has some of the best golf courses for the money in all of America. There are literally 30 golf courses within a 20-minute drive of the Starlight Ridge Community, where you pay no more than $50 for a weekday round. Often, on sites like GolfNow, you will find hot deals for under $30.

Fun for the Adults

The Starlight Ridge Community is close to many fun adult amenities that include the casino, Old Town Temecula, and the wineries. These are three unique activities in Temecula that truly make for a fun day. Start off by going to brunch in Old Town Temecula. Follow that up by visiting a few of the gorgeous wineries while driving around and enjoying the rolling hills and beautiful scenery.

Finish up the day by going to dinner at the casino and trying your luck on the slot machines or a game of 21. Close the night out by going to one of the many concerts or comedy events that the casino holds.
