Top Wineries in Temecula, Somerset Winery

Our goal over the next few years is to document wineries in Temecula and pass information on through videos and blog posts. We want people to know our picks for the top wineries in Temecula. Somerset was on our list after a Friday night visit a few weeks ago. We had so much fun! Live music, people dancing, and wine flowing—we had to come back during the day for a video.

Information and History

Somerset Winery is rooted on 13 acres with many Rhône varietals such as Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache, and Syrah, as well as the Spanish Macabeo, Monastrell, and Tempranillo. To us, it has a relaxed type of feel, not at all stuffy. It reminded us of the town bar, where everybody loves going to hang out with friends. It has a large front gate right off De Portola Road in Temecula. The main building is smaller but very inviting, often with live music playing, football games on the TV, and groups of people having a great time. We were a little bummed; we just missed the one-year anniversary, which was the previous day and supposedly a blast.

What to Do

While walking around the grounds, you’ll notice a variety of activities and different areas to hang out in. Towards the front of Somerset Winery, there is an area with some kind of bocce ball game and a covered patio. The seating overlooks the grape vines, which is very nice.

Just off the main building, there’s an outdoor secondary bar with seating, an area where live music plays and people dance, and also a dog-friendly zone. Towards the back of the winery, it looks to be some sort of event area, perfect for a wedding or large event. There’s also corn hole, which is a game where you throw bean bags into a hole. (Terrible Description) If you haven’t played, it’s actually really fun.

Wine Club Information

You will receive three bottles of wine each quarter that range in price from $65 to $120. You will receive a 25% discount on cases of wine and a 20% discount on any wine purchases. There is also a 10% discount on food.

Tastings

With your wine club membership, you get 8–10 tastings a month, depending on which membership you choose. You may cancel your membership after three shipments.

Our goal before starting these blog posts and videos was to not only help the community but also find three wineries in Temecula to join ourselves. We have taken our time and weighed out the pros and cons of each winery. Somerset has checked off a number of boxes and decided to join. We love the intimate, non-stuffy setting. We also enjoy the idea of being able to visit on a Friday night and always having some sort of entertainment.
