5 Things To Do In Temecula, California, on The Weekend

We thought it would be a great idea to write a blog post about 5 things to do in Temecula, California, on the weekend because it is such a great spot for a day trip or weekend getaway. With its warm weather, rolling hills, beautiful views, and abundance of restaurants, Temecula should be on your travel bucket list. This list should give you some ideas for what to do when you arrive.

Wineries

The number one thing most people come to Temecula for is the wineries. Temecula has around 40 wineries scattered throughout the wine country. Even if you don’t like wine, you should make a day of touring some of the wineries. Gorgeous views, great weather, and relaxation are what you can expect.

If you’re interested in learning more about the wineries, we will be documenting every single winery in Temecula over the next year and a half.

Another tip for people coming from out of town: check Groupon; they often have two-for-one wine tastings or cheese plate deals. Check the fine print; many of the two-for-one deals are only available during the week.  Which one should you visit?

We can’t say I like one winery more than the other; they are all different and have their own personalities. I can say that some wineries have a more upbeat vibe with people dancing, music playing, etc., while others are more on the relaxing, quiet side. Quiet means you sit, enjoy the views, and have good conversations with friends. If you have any questions or would like some feedback on certain wineries, you can always contact us through the website; we would be happy to help. One of our favorite wineries for a fun-filled, exciting day is Somerset Winery. We produced a video and blog post on this winery here. If you would like the ultimate winery guide that will help you decide which wineries are best to visitcheck out this blog and video.

Rent a boat and take a walk around Lake Harveston.

We personally live in the Lake Harveston Community, and there is a beautiful lake that you can take advantage of. Exercise, biking, or walking your dog—it really is fun to walk around the lake while you get some exercise. The walk around the lake is about a mile long, but there are plenty of tables to sit at, talk, feed the ducks, or even fish. There is also a building where you can rent boats, which you cannot miss.

Brunch and Walk Around in Old Town

Besides the wineries, Old Town Temecula is probably the most well-known area of the city. We have spent many mornings and afternoons in Old Town, and it’s definitely a fun way to spend a morning or afternoon.

If you are staying in Temecula overnight or you can get here by morning, check out a few of the restaurants. Grab a mimosa and some brunch. After brunch, walk up and down the street; there are plenty of boutique-type shops and bars, and if you get hungry again, many additional eating options. There is even a candy and chocolate shop for dessert after your brunch.

Ride in a Hot Air Balloon

One of the best things about the Temecula Valley is the beautiful views, rolling hills, and vast landscape. If you’re not afraid of heights, why not get in a hot-air balloon and see wine country? Rates for the balloon ride will vary, but plan to spend anywhere from $120 to $200 per person for a 60- to 80-minute ride. Many of these will include champagne, snacks, and discounts on certain wineries.

Golfing

In my opinion, one of the best things about living in the Temecula area is the golfing opportunities. There are so many affordable golf courses within 20 miles that it will make your head spin. Just in Temecula alone, you will have the choice of eight to 10 golf courses. Prices are going to range from $30 to $100. The most expensive golf course in Temecula is Journey at Pechanga, the golf course at the casino. Is it worth it? If you’re an avid golfer, I strongly recommend you play; it’s a really beautiful course. GolfNow has most golf courses in the area; check that site out first, as they often have very good deals on golf rounds. Golfing is a major factor for many people when either relocating or planning a trip. Here is an in-depth guide to all of Temecula’s best golf courses
