9 Reasons to Relocate to Temecula

Temecula California is a small city in southern California. With a population of around 100,000 people, it has many amenities but lacks the feel of a large metropolitan area.In this blog post and video, we will talk about the nine reasons why you should move to Temecula. After living in many different areas of Southern California, we now call Temecula home and are happy to pass along our experiences as local residents.

Home Prices

If Southern California is on your radar, home prices are definitely going to be a sticking point for many people, regardless of the area. Having said that, Temecula home prices are definitely one of the top reasons why you should move to Temecula. When you compare home prices in this area to many others, they are very affordable and attainable. As of the date of this article, you can find a home for around $600,000. That would be a 2000–2300 square foot home with 3–4 bedrooms in a very nice community with a ton of amenities. That same home in most other areas, especially in San Diego County or Orange County, would be well over a million dollars.

Weather

Weather doesn’t need much of an explanation in Southern California. Everyone knows that the Sunshine State is exactly that. One thing that we love about Temecula specifically is how the sun shines from morning to night most days. The closer to the beach you get, the more gloomy days you get that often drag into the afternoon. This is one of the reasons we prefer inland southern California. Yes, it does get hotter for two or three months in the summer compared to the beach, but in our opinion, it’s well worth it.

Community Amenities

We talk about this a great deal in many of our specific community videos and blog posts. 70% of communities in Temecula offer great amenities to their residents for a very affordable HOA fee each month. Generally speaking, HOA fees are going to be around $100 per month, and with that, you will get community pools, hot tubs, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and walking paths. HOAs are very common in Southern California but often don’t enrich the lives of the residents all that much. Many times, HOA fees pay for the upkeep of the entrance sign and some of the common area landscaping. This is not the case for Temecula and is one of the top reasons why you should move to Temecula.

Schools

As a parent, one of the hardest things about moving to Southern California is finding an area with good schools that doesn’t cost too much. This isn’t always easy to find, and homes in high-rated school districts often cost too much to buy. Temecula is probably one of the best cities for affordability, but it also has great schools, with overall ratings above 8 in 95% of schools from elementary all the way to high school. If you are a family with young children, this is definitely one of the top reasons why you should move to Temecula.

Overall Safety

In regards to safety, yes, you can do your research and find out that Temecula is very safe with a very low crime rate. Coming from someone who lives here, there’s also a sense of safety, even at night. We rarely have issues; car break-ins are probably the most common thing that we’ve heard about. I often compare Temecula to the beach. We lived in San Clemente, right on the ocean, for many years. My wife couldn’t even walk along the beach after dark, near the end of our stay in San Clemente. Lots of homelessness, drugs, etc. We are not going to be naive or pretend that Temecula doesn’t have these problems, but they’re not in your face like they are in many communities across Southern California, including the beach areas.

Housing Variety

What do we mean by housing variety? Well, in Temecula, you have the opportunity to live in more of a rural setting or in a planned, residential community. You have massive communities like Paloma Del Sol or Harveston. Then offer residents a ton of amenities. Pools, lakes, walking paths, and basketball courts are all activities common in many of the communities throughout Temecula. If that is something that is of interest to you, there is no shortage of this type of lifestyle. We also talked a lot about how quiet these massive planned communities are. Yes, you are in proximity to many places, including grocery stores, restaurants, etcetera, but once in the community, they are very quiet and offer residents a sense of security and safety.

If you are looking for more of a rural setting, there are many areas in Temecula that have this as well. In communities like De Luz, which is agricultural and has properties over 5 acres at reasonable prices, If you’re looking for wine country, it’s very common for properties larger than an acre to sell for around a million dollars. You also have horse areas like Meadowview or Los Ranchitos.

When it comes to Meadowview in Los Ranchitos, the one benefit is that you are almost in the middle of the city of Temecula. Very convenient for people who want to maintain a rural feel while being close to amenities that will make their lives easier. Wine Country will be a 10- to 15-minute drive from the town of Temecula. When it comes to De Luz, you definitely get that rural feel, but it’s a long drive into the town of Temecula, and cell phone use is almost non-existent unless you are at your house with Wi-Fi.

Proximity to Many Great Day Trips

One of the best things about Southern California, in general, is the opportunity for so many weekend getaways. Las Vegas, the Beaches, Los Angeles, Big Bear, and Palm Springs are just a few cities within a short drive of Temecula that are great to visit for a few days. If you enjoy weekend getaways, Temecula is very central and only a short distance and drive time away from most of these areas.

Airports

For those that fly a lot, we have four airports within an hour and a half of Temecula. We have San Diego, Ontario, John Wayne Airport, which is in Orange County, and of course, LAX. This makes it very convenient for anybody who needs to fly. Hello, okay, I plan on listing no. I’m not listed, and who knows?

Wineries

Of course, we have to mention wineries. The wineries in Temecula are growing every year, and they are a huge part of the local economy and something people have a lot of fun doing. There are over forty wineries in Temecula, each with its own unique appeal. We belong to four wineries and find them very relaxing and affordable. When you take into consideration what it costs to have a glass of wine at a restaurant and compare it to what you pay monthly for a wine membership, it’s well worth it. Most wineries allow you to taste every day. Many of the wineries have great views, restaurants, shops, and beautiful tasting areas, and offer tours. If you love wine, Temecula wine country is definitely one of the top reasons why you should move to Temecula.
