TEMECULA VS PALM SPRINGS

 Temecula and Palm Springs are within an hour drive of each other. Both cities have a great deal to offer not only for residents but vacationers or day-trippers. In this Temecula vs Palm Springs article and video we will go over the pros and cons of each city and what you can expect when either visiting or living in these locations. Full disclosure, I have never actually lived in Palm Springs but we do vacation there quite often. It’s one of our go to weekend getaways that is very close to Temecula.

Housing

In regards to rental pricing and purchasing, Temecula is going to be around 15%-20% more expensive. The video attached to this post goes over that on a line graph.. In our opinion, where Temecula separates itself not only from Palm Springs but from many cities throughout Southern California is that there are no dumpy areas.   When driving through Temecula it feels like you could live anywhere. When it comes to Palm Springs, there are some nice areas but there are also sections that we personally would not live. 

Weather

 This has to be in the top two or three things you need to consider when planning either a trip  or relocating to Palm Springs, especially in the summer! Temecula is going to have temperatures anywhere from 95 degrees to 105 degrees. Palm Springs will have temperatures anywhere from a 110 up to 120 degrees during the summer months .If you plan a vacation or will be working in Palm Springs during this time, heat can be nightmarish. Often, we will take a weekend vacation to sit by the pool in the summer because it’s a lot cheaper and not as busy. Christie loves it, but i’m in the room most of the time. It’s unbearably hot at times, even sitting by the pool.

Where is it more relaxing?

One thing is for sure, as soon as you enter Palm Springs you’re going to notice a calm or relaxing  type feel. (They say it’s the mountains)  This is one of the major reasons we continually visit Palm Springs for weekend getaways. Your worries melt away with the quaint hotels and restaurants.

The downtown area of Palm Springs is great for walking,shopping, eating and drinking. One of the best things to do in Palm Springs includes Thursday night market nights. If I was to give one piece of advice to anybody coming to Palm Springs to visit? DO NOT miss market night!. It’s awesome to walk up and down Main Street (they shut it down)  , taste all the food, enjoy the different types of art and people watch. 

Temecula is no slouch either when it comes to relaxing. With the wineries, Old Town, Casino, hiking and hundreds of restaurants Temecula is truly is an amazing place to either vacation or live. It doesn’t get much better than spending a Sunday afternoon at the wineries enjoying the nice breeze, gorgeous valley views  and great wine. One of the things we consistently do that relieves a lot of stress from our work is spend one afternoon a week at one of the wineries. Many of the wineries have live music on  Friday and Saturday nights which is great. One of our favorites is Somerset, we have an article and video here.

 Old Town front street is a really fun place to walk up and down, shop, stop off for a drink at the many bars and restaurants or grab a bite to eat. It’s cool to see some history and enjoy the people which is one of the  many reasons why we love it here in Temecula. The people are  always helpful and friendly

 To sum it up?  When we do compare Temecula vs Palm Springs in regards to what is more relaxing they are both winners. I’m going to Palm Springs if I want to sit by the pool, enjoy a nice 1950s style motel and visit some wonderful restaurants. If I’m looking for a relaxing country type weekend, I’m renting a room at one of the wineries, sitting back enjoying the views and wine.

Golfing

I’m going to give the edge to Palm Springs on this one. Let’s face it,  many people visit Palm Springs in the winter for one reason and that one reason is to golf. Be aware,the price is going to be significantly more to play a round of golf in Palm Springs especially during the winter months or high times than Temecula. 

Temecula has some wonderful golf courses  and will be a lot easier on your pocketbook. If you are a golfer on a budget Temecula would be my suggestion and maybe take a 2 day trip to Palm Springs for one round and some great pool time and restaurants. 

Food

This is a tough one, some of our favorite restaurants are in Palm Springs but Temecula has a lot more to choose from and some great ones as well. One restaurant in Palm Springs that we absolutely love is called Shanghai Reds Bar & Grill. If you are in Palm Springs do not miss this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, along with the vibe. Many times they will have live music on the weekend. They have awesome Ahi tacos and the food is really tasty.

 Temecula has a ton of great restaurants as well. My suggestion would be to walk up and down Old Town Temecula and choose from there. Some of the restaurants we enjoy are 1909 and Devilicious for some great American food. Luke’s on Front Street is also a great place to grab a drink that has some very nice views.

Temecula VS Palm Springs, where would I live? 

After traveling the world we had the option of moving anywhere we wanted. We chose Temecula and we have never regretted that decision. Temecula has absolutely everything that we would want in a city.  It’s close to airports, the beach, the mountains and San Diego. Home prices are affordable for what the city has to offer. It’s safe, clean and  most people respect and show pride in ownership in regards to their home and property.

I’m not saying Palm Springs wouldn’t be a fun place to live, the heat is just too much for us. It’s also a little far out in regards to amenities like the beach, airports  or San Diego just to name a few. We also own businesses and the opportunity in Temecula is more. We have many other cities surrounding us that will help our company grow.
